Private pilot

Privacy information

Read this before creating an account or adding material to your workspace. No sign-in is needed to read this page.

Who can use this pilot

MakeTrail is for people 18 or older using their own private workspace. There are no child accounts. Use only synthetic, non-sensitive pilot material: do not upload children’s personal information, identifiable child images, sensitive recordings or private documents.

The first-use acknowledgement records the pilot restrictions. It is not age verification, legal consent or permission to upload someone else’s personal material. A separate consent and safeguarding process is required before any children’s launch.

Your workspace and snapshots

Projects, memories, attachments and frozen snapshots are scoped to your signed-in account. A snapshot is an owner-private saved view, not a public share link: opening its address still requires the owning account. There is no guest access or public publishing.

MakeTrail uses Clerk for sign-in, a database for workspace records and private file storage for uploads. This pilot has no teams, assessments, badges, LMS or AI features.

How long material stays

Saved projects, memories and snapshots remain until you erase them. Unfinished uploads expire after one hour; completed files that are not attached to a project or memory expire after 24 hours. Expired files are handled by periodic cleanup, so expiry is not a promise of immediate physical deletion.

Backup retention and deletion timing have not been verified. Backups may outlast live deletion, and no backup deletion deadline is promised for this pilot.

Erasing material and your account

Inside your workspace, you can confirm permanent erasure of a memory or an entire project. Associated snapshots are removed too. Account erasure requires sign-in and an explicit confirmation; it deletes the whole workspace and sign-in account.

When erasure is accepted, access to the erased material is revoked. File cleanup and, for account erasure, sign-in account deletion may remain pending and retry until completed.

Downloaded HTML project books are local copies outside MakeTrail’s control. Erasing the workspace cannot recall those copies; store or erase them yourself.
